REGISTRATION WITH PUBLIC COMPANIES
ACCOUNTING OVERSIGHT BOARD
Indeed it is a matter of pleasure for the partners
of the firm to announce that HLB Ijaz Tabussum & Co.,
Chartered Accountants is the first (and at present the only
one in Pakistan) accountancy firm in Pakistan to be registered
with the Public Companies Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
Indeed it will go a long way to improve our working and have
international referral work (specially from USA). The partners
will appreciate if this news is flashed to all HLB member
firms.
ANNUAL REUNION 2005
The Annual Reunion 2005 of HLB Ijaz Tabussum & Co., Chartered
Accountants (ITC) was held on April 02, 2005 at the Islamabad
Club. The occasion was attended by Mr. Javed Akbar Farooqi
- FCA, (Managing Director, Sind Engineering (Pvt.) Limited
- A subsidiary of Pakistan Automobile Corporation Limited),
Mr. Ijaz Akber - FCA, Senior Partner & International Contact
Partner, HLB Ijaz Tabussum & Co., Chartered Accountants,
Mr. lyaz Ahmad - ACA, Partner Incharge - Gujranwala Office,
HLB Ijaz Tabussum & Co, Mr. Shahid Abbas - FCA, Partner
Incharge - Peshawar Office, HLB Ijaz Tabussum & Co. and
Mr. Hamayun Kabir, Company Secretary, Liberty Power (Pvt.)
Limited and all the former and current staff of Islamabad,
Peshawar and Gujranwala offices of HLB ITC.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ijaz Akber revisited the inception
and growth profile of the firm. He enumerated new clients
that the firm has been able to procure though still in its
infancy. Some of the clients, such as Pakistan Ordnance Factories,
SME Bank Limited, Ministry of Finance - Government of Pakistan,
Islamabad Stock Exchange, Export Promotion Bureau - Government
of Pakistan, Decentralization Support Programme - A joint
project of Asian Development Bank and Ministry of Finance
- Government of Pakistan, etc, have, Mr. Ijaz Akber said,
risen the credibility and experience profile of the Firm.
Mr. Ijaz Akber, while advising students at all levels, has
emphasized the importance of hard work and commitment to the
firm and to the profession. He praised students and staff
members for their excellent commitment towards the profession
in general and to the Firm in particular. He particularly
praised the old students of the Firm who are working at excellent
positions in the industry and drawing excellent salary packages.
He advised them to observe all professional ethics and work
harder to bring a good name to the Firm.
Mr. Ijaz Akber informed the gathering of the incorporation
of a consulting house by the name of HLB Consulting (Pakistan)
(Private) Limited, which was formed solely for the purpose
of providing full spectrum consulting services to the clients.
Mr. Ijaz Akber thanked Mr. Javed Akbar Farooqi for his gracious
presence. Mr. Ijaz Akber remembered the old days when he was
working as an articled clerk under the able guidance of Mr.
Javed Akbar Farooqi.
After Mr. Ijaz Akber's speech, memorabilia from the firm
were presented to students who have completed their articles
with the firm with distinction. This has been a hallmark of
the firm that it has presented this memorabilia to every student
who has completed articles with the firm and performed excellent
services.
During his speech, Mr. Javed Akbar Farooqi re-emphasized
the words of Mr. Ijaz Akber regarding commitment and hard
work. He praised Mr. Ijaz Akber and his current and former
team of employees and students for their excellent work. He
was particularly appreciative of the speed with which the
firm has marked its presence in the market and at the same
time delivered excellent, quality and multi-disciplinary services.
After the memorabilia distribution ceremony, dinner was served.
The partners and the senior staff of the firm mingled with
their juniors and had a hearty dinner in a cheerful environment.
There was a photo session after the dinner. A group photo
of all present is enclosed.
As a token of their appreciation and respect, the students
and staff of the firm presented a memorabilia and a bouquet
to Mr. Ijaz Akber, after which the gathering ended.
